If the IJN managed to muster around 500 ships for the Battle, they would have lost 350-425 ships according to the lore.</ref> of the 400 ships sent to Iwo Jima, nearly all that remained of the Japanese Navy and Air Corps were also destroyed at the battle, fully paralyzing the capabilities of the IJN.
