Himmler joined the SS due to his peaking interest in German purity and the Jewish Question in 1925. He was involved in the Beer hall putsch, he was almost arrested for it, but the chargecharges got dropped due to a lack of evidence. Himmler then abandoned catholicismCatholicism and became an atheist. He told Hitler of his vision to make Germany and the SS a pure force, which made Hitler appoint him as Reichsführer-SS, the leader of the SS.

Himmler started the SS coup against Hitler whilewhilst the chaos of the West Russian warWar was ongoing, howeverIn an act of possibly saving the nation from further strife and due to the West Russian War, Hitler offered him a fiefdom, the state of Burgundy in return for peace, and the split of the SS into the Deutsch-SS under Heydrich and the Burgundische-SS under Himmler and a promise to not intervene in Germany, which he accepted.
