It has been said that Chile has found stability in misery. If this is true, then no one informed the people of Santiago-- they are too obsessed with ideology to be stable, and protest too often to find time to be miserable. From atop San Cristóbal Hill, a gleaming white statue of the Virgin Mary watches over her beloved city with pride and faith.
