The Guizhou Province is a de-facto independent state in China. On paper its a province of the Republic of China. However in reality thanks to deals between the province's leadership and the Japanese the local rulers who a good deal of autonomy. The status of Guizhou has changed as TNO has developed.
Originally, Guizhou was simply another warlord state that is easily taken over by the Yunnan government. With the Setting Sun rework of East Asia, Guizhou is now the self-proclaimed leader of the southwestern warlord states and an important center of the Asian opium trade.
