After the collapse of the Bukharin regime by the German Invasion, Genrikh Yagoda led the NKVD to evacuate the Soviet government to Irkutsk, making it a legitimate successor. However, the Presidium's tyranny led to underground movements in the Far East. In central Siberia, Russian intellectuals fled to Tomsk, forming a republic. Tensions between the Republic and Union remnants increased during the late 1940s and early 1950s with increase and constant border clashes almost everyday.

In May 1950, a war broke out between the two countries. The Elements of the Remnants of the Soviet Army managed to capture Bratsk while repelling a Republican Counterattack. The Army managed to advance all the way to the Town of Tayshet until the frontlines became a stalemate due to the harsh climate and defensible terrain of Siberia, halting the front lines.

Following the war, local authorities in the Far East revolted against Yagoda's tyranny. Nikifor Kolyada led the first partisan leader in Aldan, occupying the area. Fascists from Harbin and white émigrés established a fascist government in the southeast. The Soviet Pacific Fleet declared independence in Kamchatka, leading to the collapse of any government in the region due to the lack of military presence.

The Republic capitalized on an opportunity to strike, while Yagoda's government fought rebels and attacked Soviet lines. The Republican Army pushed back the Union Army back to the original frontlines. But however just as the Republican Army attempted to deal a final blow to Yagoda's Army, high-ranking generals and officers revolted against the Tomsk government, leading to the Siberian Black Army claiming independence. Nikolai Krylov was ordered to reconquer territories, but betrayed by Nikolai Andreev and his soldiers. In Novosibirsk, Alexander Pokryshkin and local garrisons declared independence from Tomsk.

Unfortunately for the Central Siberian Republic, they had to deal with a number of revolts. Most High-Ranking officers in the Republic revolted against the government resulting in the proclamation of the Siberian Black Army based in Kansk.
