Outcomes

Outcome 1

WAA/FMA victory
• French victory could lead to neocolonization of West Africa, except for Cameroon.

• Cameroon's civil war is unlikely to resolve. • Free France may petition the Iberian Union for passage, leading to the French reclamation if Reconciliation failed.

• Charles de Gaulle's death in 1971 could sever momentum of the Free French liberation forces.

Outcome 2

PALF victory
Pan-Africanist Takeover of West Africa

• Pan-Africanist governments to take over most West Africa, including Eburnian Republic. • Joining Cameroon's new economic sphere. • Invading remaining neutral states like Liberia under pan-Africanist governments. • French banished to Kerguelen, waiting for death. • French Resistance's only hope: Antoine Pinay's victory at Métropole.

• Triggering of the Mano River Crisis, where the PALF will invade Liberia and Mendi, whose only hope is the US

The Pan-African Liberation Front, the Free French Liberation Forces, and its allies and/or client governments engaged in combat in what was once the French colonial domain of West Africa during the West African War. It acts as a proxy conflict between the United States of America, which supports the French, and the Empire of Japan, which backs the Pan African Liberation Front (PALF).

Background[edit | edit source]

"At the root of our civilization, there is the freedom of each person of thought, of belief, of opinion, of work, of leisure." -Charles de Gaulle

Brigadier-general Charles de Gaulle organized the colonial forces of French Africa to create a resistance after the Armistice of June 22, 1940, which essentially signified the surrender of France to the Nazis. General de Gaulle established the Free French Republic by donning the "Croix de Lorraine," a symbol historically connected to fervent anti-German feeling. In addition to facing direct battle in Africa, Free France would conduct anti-German activities within the Métropole.

Free France was the final remaining Allied Power after the United Kingdom's 1943 surrender and the 1945 atomic bombing of Pearl Harbor. German terror bombing, the gradual erosion of authority, and the growing likelihood that the of liberation of France would be very slim.

The West African War is probably the most complex conflict in The New Order given that there are, at the moment, three outlines for the conflict that occur through skeleton content in the region.

Below are the three different outlines for how to tell what scenario you have.

Scenario 1: WAA vs. PALF[edit | edit source]

Look first at the country of Benin, which is located on the border between Yorubaland and Ghana, to determine what situation you would be facing in the West African War. In the event that Benin becomes a Free French puppet state, you may find yourself in one of two situations.

Among the three eventualities, Scenario 1 is undoubtedly the rarest. It unfolds as Scenario 3, with Mossiland being peacefully annexed by the Free French. But rather of forging their own faction, the Free French will become a part of the West African Alliance.

The Japanese Empire will be permitted to provide military assistance to the Pan-Africanists and their allies, while the United States of America will be permitted to provide military assistance to the Free French, Wolofian, and their allies.

Scenario 2: FMA vs. WAA vs. PALF (1966)[edit | edit source]

Perhaps the most painful scene in The New Order: Last Days of Europe is this three-way interpretation of the fight.

Look first at the country of Benin, which is located on the border between Yorubaland and Ghana, to determine what situation you would be facing in the West African War. In the event that Benin becomes a French puppet state, you might encounter either scenario 1 or scenario 2.

The South African War will cause Free France to invade and occupy Mossiland when the terror bombing of West Africa stops, this terrifies the other west African nations to where in June 1966, they will form the West African Alliance (formed by Wolofia Mali Jola and Ghana) to counter the French Military Alliance (Formed by Free France Kayes Government and Dahomey) and Pan African Liberation Front (Formed by Cameroon and Niger), The PALF invading Sokoto and Zarmaland doesn’t help. Tensions escalate to where the WAA and FMA declare war on each other, then the PALF launches surprise attacks on both a few days later

Scenario 3: FMA vs. PALF[edit | edit source]

Look first at the country of Benin, which is located on the border between Yorubaland and Ghana, to determine what situation you would be facing in the West African War. In the event that Benin were to become a pan-Africanist state, the French Military Alliance and the Pan African Liberation Front would be at war with one another.

Following the end of the South African War and the terror-bombings of West Africa, Free France will quietly annex Mossiland. The French Military Alliance will be signed by the Free French and a number of other West African nations subsequently. In addition, Yorubaland would be invaded and annexed by the African state of Cameroon. A short while later, Ghana's civil war will break out between the legitimate government and the Pan-Africanist Convention People's Party.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The West African War and the real-life Vietnam War are frequently compared because all TNO conflicts are partially based on actual conflicts. In fact, during the super event for the FMA vs. PALF vs. WAA version of the conflict, news reports and audio from anti-Vietnam War protests were used.
