World War III is a potential conflict that can break out either with both a player-controlled superpower and a player-controlled Burgundy or by the AI (provided the game rules permit for that). World War III is traditionally defined by Global Thermonuclear war and the end of the world.

Should World War III happen, multiple events will show in order, to describe the effect of the nukes on society, and subsequently humanity's recovery from the most devastating war. The effects of World War III include the total collapse of society, elimination of most of the human race, radiation, permanent enviromental effects, and more.
Some of the events include a Chinese couple meeting their end, Hirohito writing his death poem, and an event involving Elizabeth the Second praying for the survival of her people, amongst others.
