Transnistria, officially the Transnistria Governorate (Romanian:Guvernământul Transnistriei) is a highly-autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Romania located between the Dniester and Southern Bug rivers. It was conquered by the Axis Powers from the Soviet Union during World War II, and transferred to Romania.
