The Japanese Antarctic Sector is Japan's Antarctic sector, carved up and military occupied since the Scramble for Antarctica.
History[edit | edit source]
Scramble for Antarctica[edit | edit source]
While Japan had expressed little interest in the continent before the 1950s this would change after the Snipe War. Tokyo sent the 1s Airborne Brigade under Major General Kinugasa Hayao into the previously unclaimed territory of Marie Byrd Land, which would later be renamed Nobu Shirase Land, after a Japanese explorer who led an expedition to Antarctica in the 1910s.
Since the establishment of the Sectors capital of Showa Station, the colony has hosted several military bases, and has became a port for both fishing and whaling ships to anchor in.
