Democratic Party

From TNOpediA

The Democratic Party is the oldest of the two political party that make up America's political establishment.

Democratic Party
Founded : 1828
Political Position : Centere-Left to Centre-Right

They primarily represent America's center-left, but have a right-wing faction resulting from the South long distasted for the Republican Party. Currently, the Democrats are in an uneasy coalition with the Republican Party to prevent the "radicals" of the National Progressive Pact from taking the presidency and dismantling the two-party system.

Factions[edit | edit source]

Labor Democrats[edit | edit source]

Led by Texas Senator Lyndon B. Johnson, the Labor Democrats view themselves as continuing the work of former president Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal program. They support policies that improves and defend civil rights, equality, social justice, and a regulated market economy, in contrast with the Republican or Dixiecrat viewpoints.

Dixiecrats[edit | edit source]

Spearheaded by Georgia Senator Richard Russell Jr, the Dixiecrats are diminishing faction in the Democratic Party. Once a major proponent for pro-segregation and economic policies that benefited Southern interests, the faction's influence is fading as the State' right party takes most of their views and repackaging them with a more populist sheen.
