The Liberal Party of Canada is a Canadian political party. The Liberal Party was founded in 1867 and is one of Canada's oldest political parties. Descended from both the English and French speaking reformist movements of the early 19th century, the Liberal Party has been a cornerstone of Canadian politics since the country's creation. While the party has been mostly the opposition since the Second World War, the 1958 parliamentary election has seen the Liberal Party once again becoming the ruling party
