In Central Siberia, so recently developed by Bukharin's industrial ambitions, a new democratic Russian state was born: the Central Siberian Republic.

A Killed Dream[edit | edit source]

Led by the Poet-President Boris Pasternak, the new nation set out to build itself up as the basis of a new Russian Democracy, an heir to the one killed in 1918 by Lenin and the Bolsheviks.

This dream rapidly turned to a nightmare. Landlocked and unable to trade with the rest of the world, the Central Siberian economy struggled to adjust. Separatist sentiment in Barnaul, breadbasket of the Republic, brought instability and food riots throughout the nation.

Regional military leaders in Novosibirsk seceded, citing the central government's inability to win the war and end the bloodshed. In the east, anarchist rebels seceded from the failing Republic.

An attempt to recapture the area by General Krylov led to further defeats after the betrayal of Colonel Andreev and the loss of Krasnoyarsk. Broken, Krylov retreated to Kemerovo where in a bout of insanity the fallen general declared himself the reincarnation of long dead king Rurik.

Provisional Government The successive disasters of separatism in Barnaul, war with Yagoda's accursed Soviet remnants, and mutinies in the army have broken the back of the old Central Siberian Government. Now, an emergency provisional government led by Boris Pasternak tries to keep the Republic alive. While the population in Tomsk have been appreciative of the efforts of the Pasternak cabinet to fight these catastrophes, the haphazard provisional government is badly overextended. The Flight East Though the West Russian War ended almost a decade ago, Western Russia has never known peace with the Germans. Instead, life has been punctuated by regular bombings from the Luftwaffe, an unending campaign of terror meant to permanently hobble a one-time adversary.

This steady stream of refugees has permanently altered the distribution of Russia's population, with many migrating to the far reaches of the country that remain untouched by the Nazi war machine.

  • One event will see the Bastillards create a radio serial by the name of "Welcome to Dolina Nochi", which is a reference to the podcast "Welcome to Night Vale" - while Dolina Nochi does not directly translate to Night Vale (it roughly translates to "Valley of the Night"), many of the events mentioned in the "Dolina Nochi" event are similar to those that happen in episode two of "Night Vale" (most notably a glowing cloud and dragon wanted for insurance fraud).
  • Before the Toolbox Theory update, Tomsk used to own north-central Siberia; this territory now starts the game without an owner until Central Siberia is unified.
  • Decembrist's Russian Unification song is composed by Georgy Sviridov, the head of government under Likhachyov's cabinet.
